September News...
Welcome back everyone! We are hitting the ground running with a full month planned ahead.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the warm summer weather. All around us are the tell tale signs that autumn is in our midst once again. With a new school year comes new challenges and successes which serve to fortify our integrity and perseverance as human beings on this beautiful planet.
Our big idea for both September and October is Environmentalism and although many Dufferin students are already active citizens with regards to this issue, throughout September and October we will be taking additional measures to ensure that our big idea is intricately woven into our day to day lives.
As the students consider the idea that WHERE they live has an effect on the lives they lead, they will be encouraged to take this one step further – delving into WHO, WHAT and HOW while realizing that we are all connected in this world regardless of where we live.
The students will be sharpening their mathematical skills by cost efficiently planning a vacation in one of Canada’s beautiful provinces with particular attention being paid to the most affordable and environmentally sustainable method of transportation they should use while on their holiday.
The children will be working on their “All About Me” books as well as procedural and recount writing this month.
You can access the newsletter on a monthly basis, and will find timely updates that are relevant to our class on this site as well - So check regularly!
Sincerely,
